Captain America, in Summer 2011

The First Avenger: Captain America, slated for release in 2011 , will be Marvel's first attempt at Captain America since 1990. Following Iron Man and Iron Man 2, The First Avenger will take place in World War 2 and will introduce the character of Captain America. With Nick Cassavetes set to direct, The First Avenger will look to introduce Steve Rogers and Captain America in order to set up the soon following film, The Avengers, which will be released in June 2011 according to Marvel Studios. The First Avenger: Captain America, will take place in World War Two and reportedly will tell the story of the birth of Captain America after Steve Rogers volunteers for an experimental military program.

No information is yet available on villains, but it would not be unlikely that some adaptation of The Red Skull will be used as the main villian, as was done in the 1990 Captain America movie.
