Now, the press release that accompanied the announcement said that the device is 100 per cent smartphone and 100 per cent tablet, but we've done the math(s) and we don't think that's possible.
However, what is for sure is that it's a monster of a phone and, with the Android version not yet being stated, it could be a Honeycomb device.
On board it is packing a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, as well as an 8-megapixel (with flash) camera on the back and a 2-megapixel one on the front.
But it's the LED backlit screen that's most intriguing; it has a cinema style ratio of 21:9 thanks to the 1024 x 480 resolution.
Add to this the Dolby Mobile technology, Flash support and DLNA tech as well, then you could be looking at an incredibly video friendly device.
As well as Acer's new out-of-the-box, media sharing clear.fi technology, the handset also boasts a 6-axis motion sensing control system with a gyroscope and accelerometer built in.
Connectivity is via HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0, and there's also a HDMI out option as well.
There's no pricing or availability details yet (it hasn't even got a name), but we'll of course bring you any breaking news.
