Description
These magnificent design presentation models of the Ferrari 458 Italia at ¼ scale are around 1.2 metres (4 feet) long. The first three models produced were displayed in the lounge area at the ‘World Premiere’ launch of the car at Fiorano. The exterior details are very finely modelled with the windows shown in black gloss. The model is available in Rosso Corsa and Giallo Modena Tristrato and is limited to just 50 pieces in total.

MYSTERIOUS FATE OF THE FERRARI 458

The latest Ferrari supercar is being plagued by a mysterious jinx  -  after ten of them crashed or were gutted by fire.
In the past three months, six 200mph Ferrari 458 Italias have been involved in accidents, three have caught fire and one was wrecked in a warehouse blaze.
There is no apparent technical fault with the £170,000 supercar  -  it appears the owners are simply the victims of bad luck.

'Owners are getting the feel for the new car and some are taking it beyond their skill level  -  but the 458 has a higher-than-normal crash count.'
The first crash occurred in Wroclaw, Poland on May 20 when the driver  -  thought to be in his 20s  -  swerved to avoid a bus, veering into a Volkswagen family saloon.
Two weeks ago, Britain suffered its first 458 crash when a black model hit a roadside barrier on a wet stretch of road in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

Ferrari 458 Italia

Say ciao bella to the latest supercar pin-up from Ferrari. The 458 Italia aims to reassert the brand’s dominance in a sector where it used to reign supreme. Mercedes has gatecrashed the party with the gullwing SLS and McLaren will arrive fashionably late next year with its MP4-12C

Ferrari 458 Italia
– so the 458 has a job to do. And the good news for Ferrari fans is that the model does it brilliantly…

The raw figures promise dizzying performance, and with 4.5 litres, seven gears, eight cylinders and 562bhp, the Italia would be the ace in the pack in a game of Top Trumps. Performance is scintillating and 0-62mph takes only 3.4 seconds. The 458 will go on to hit a top speed of 202mph – faster than the legendary F40.

Unlike its famous ancestor, the 458 doesn’t look like a racing car for the road. Its sleek outline was honed in the wind tunnel and features horizontal slats in the front air intakes which move downwards at speed to improve its aerodynamics. A flat undertray and diffuser also help to generate 360kg of downforce at 202mph.

Styling
While its styling owes more to the computer than to the human eye, it still turns heads. Its low-slung shape, taut surfaces and pert rear – complete with triple tailpipes – tick all the supercar boxes. And the incredible engine is visible through the rear windscreen.

Slide down into the driver’s seat and it’s hard not to feel sorry for your passenger, as the beautifully crafted cabin is designed with everything angled towards the pilot. Even changing the volume on the stereo will require them to reach across the cabin.

The driving position is perfect, and switches on either side of the wheel operate the functions displayed on corresponding screens flanking the central rev counter. The left-hand read-out shows the trip computer info and status of the chassis set-up.

On the right is the screen for an entertainment system and optional sat-nav, which operates much like BMW’s iDrive.

The headline act is the sculpted multi-function steering wheel, which really is something to behold. It incorporates buttons to operate the main beam and wipers, as well as the indicators (there are no conventional stalks). The latter work well and pose a problem only on really tight roundabouts. Behind the wheel a pair of column-mounted paddles operate the seven-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox, which is Ferrari’s fastest-ever automated manual system.

The spring-loaded levers are great to use and the downchanges range from crisp to neck-snapping depending on which ’box setting is selected. A red starter button fires the normally aspirated V8 engine. It barks into life, giving a taste of what is to come when you finally get around to deploying all that 562bhp for the first time. And when you do, the Italia is brutally fast as the gearbox hungrily devours one ratio after another.

What sets the 458 apart from other hard-charging supercars is the noise that accompanies this unrelenting performance. Peak power arrives at 9,000rpm and as the revs increase the exhaust note sounds absolutely fantastic.

In the shadow of this amazing engine it would be easy for the rest of the dynamic package to disappoint. However, the 458 delivers razor-sharp responses, superb body control, powerful carbon ceramic brakes and direct steering that’s full of feel. It also generates staggering levels of grip.

Key to its appeal is the red Manettino switch on the wheel, which allows you to fine-tune the character of the car depending on your mood and the surroundings (see panel, left). Most amazing of all, though, is the way the 458 delivers this thrilling ride without sacrificing comfort. Ferrari has other models more suited to long-distance cruising, but the Italia’s adaptive dampers give a remarkably comfortable experience for such a focused machine.

On this evidence, the poster boy of Ferrari is one of the best cars to emerge from Maranello in years. Over to you McLaren...

Aston Martin Cygnet: Small But Not Cheap

Aston Martin Cygnet
Aston Martin is best known for building high-performance vehicles. Now the sports-car manufacturer is venturing in a new direction. The all-new Aston Martin Cygnet is a compact city car based on the Toyota iQ.

The Cygnet originally debuted as a concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The reveal left bystanders confused, the tiny Aston seems out of place among the high-performance fleet.  Last week, Aston Martin confirmed that they will begin production in 2011 at their headquarters in Warwickshire. The press release announcing the Cygnet says the new Aston Martin "expresses a simple but fundamental idea: in the modern city, scale equates to speed and freedom."
Measuring 3 meters (just under 10 feet) in length, the Cygnet is designed to take on the overcrowded cityscape. The Cygnet will be easier to maneuver in traffic, be capable of exploiting smaller parking spaces and consume less fuel than its larger siblings. But does anyone really want an Aston Martin capable of this?
One thing is for sure, the Cygnet will lower the overall emissions of the Aston Martin fleet.  With V-8 and V-12 engines running rampant through Aston Martin and CO2 output being put under the microscope, this may be the only reason the Cygnet exists.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's Director of Design, said, "Cygnet is small but luxurious, an Aston Martin tailor fit for the city." Luxury is a term that Aston Martin stresses throughout the press release announcing the Cygnet. The focus on luxury may be an effort to justify a price tag higher than the average city car and further differentiate it from the Toyota iQ.
Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, provides some additional insight into their newest model, "Whatever we do, we do right. If we do performance, we do performance; we don't downsize or compromise our sports cars. The Cygnet needs to satisfy the demands of emissions and space. It is a car without compromise, just like every other Aston Martin." Dr. Bez also said, "Our customers need a small car for urban and city use, and they want the right tools for the right job, to downsize creatively without compromising intelligence, artistry and personality."
Initial photos of the Cygnet reveal an interior that appears to be as luxurious as Aston Martin is promising. The exterior attempts to embrace the current styling of Aston Martin, but the compact size results in a side profile resembling every other city car.
At this time very few details have been released on the Cygnet. Aston Martin says pricing and specifications are scheduled to be announced later this year.

Ferrari plans an SUV!

Your eyes are not deceiving you – this SUV has a prancing horse on the bonnet. In a move set to cause a stir across the world, Ferrari is considering putting its famous name to a rival for the Porsche Cayenne.
Ferrari SUV
Called project F151, the prospect of a Ferrari SUV will cause uproar with car enthusiasts across the globe. However, the firm’s bosses have watched the success of Porsche’s 4x4 with interest, and want to increase profits.

With a practical interior, estate car luggage capacity and rough-road ability, the model would open the Ferrari range up to a huge new customer base. Still in its early stages, the project is yet to be given the green light by bosses nervous of tarnishing Ferrari’s legendary brand image. Our shots shows what the classy off-roader could look like in showroom-ready trim. At around five metres long and two metres wide, the jacked-up Ferrari would offer luxurious transport for five passengers to travel in style.

While designers face the challenge of making the Ferrari beautiful, engineers have to make it live up to the firm’s dynamic reputation. Powerplants are yet to be finalised, but it’s thought that the Ferrari will be offered with a choice of V8 and V12 engines from the firm’s existing stable.

The four-wheel-drive transmission will be a more difficult challenge. With no system of its own available, Ferrari is expected to develop existing technology borrowed from another car maker, with Mercedes the hot favourite.

A cheaper alternative would be to use Ferrari’s own rear-drive 612 Scaglietti platform. Coupled to a hi-tech traction control system, the running gear could be set up to cope with off-road conditions, but it’s most likely the maker wouldfocuson class-leading handling.

While an SUV from sister firm Maserati was planned, bosses have shelved that idea in favour of a Ferrari 4x4 with a higher price tag. Buyers will be asked to pay well in excess of £100,000. If the F151 gets the go-ahead, the Ferrari will be revealed in concept form in 2010 before going on sale a year later.

Senner Audi A5 Cabrio
Inside and outside, the Audi A5 is a good looking car. And while the Cabriolet may be even better looking than the hardtop model, tuning companies always believe they can do better. Senner Tuning has put together a package for the A5, and they’ve taken this German saloon to the extreme: new front bumpers, rear bumpers, 4 tailpipe exhaust, wheels, and adjustable suspension make the car even more eyecatching than it already was.

The tuners from have unveiled over the weekend their Audi A5 Cabrio upgrade program, which offers increased performance and a number of body work updates. The Senner Audi A5 Cabrio for the 2.0 TFSI model offers a power increase to 275 HP and 430 Nm of torque. The extra umpf of the Senner Audi A5 Cabrio 2.0 TFSI comes from updated engine electronics and new sport air filters. The Senner Audi A5 Cabrio also features a Power Convertor system that manages to offer even faster reaction times of the accelerator pedal. Although the tuner doesn't mention, we bet the new stainless steel exhaust system with four 88x74mm diameter tailpipes also gives a few extra horses to the Senner Audi A5 Cabrio.

The tuner from Ingelheim offers an audibly superior exhaust system for the A5, guaranteed to give you goosebumps. It is an in-house sports exhaust system with a stainless steel finishing with four end pipes, 88x74mm in diameter. With this, the Audi gives the driver a real sports car feeling.

For the wheels, only the best was good enough. On the right are Varianza TIS light metal rims and on the left, Scwhert (“Sword”) SC1 light metal rims in silver chrome with anodised lips 9×20 inches and 10.5×20 inches in size with 245/30 R20 und 295/25 R20er Vredestein tyres – they cause quite a sensation. You don’t need to trim the wheel arch edges for that!

Prestige in the interior is taken care of with surfaces made from leather and extensive carbon fibre applications. The carbon set at Senner Tuning Inc. includes a tacho blend, the S-Line sports steering wheel, an ash tray cover as well as a further extension of door applications, not exactly made with cheap material. The whole thing is completed with the convertible roof module by Senner Tuning Inc., which can be open and closed via radio signals.

Audi S5 Cabrio -HS Motorsport Review:

An exhaust silencer from Cargraphic with four round inclined rolled-in 89 mm exhaust pipes announces soon arrival of the Audi S5 Cabrio like a post-horn did in its time. At the present moment, there is only one version assigned for export.

The customers fairly expect over and over again something extraordinary from the HS Motorsport company from Eching, located near Munich, the more so the perfection for a valuable client is the highest precept for Bavaria’s tuner.Strictly speaking, the external loo k of the cabriolet from Ingolstadt doesn’t need any upgrades. Therefore, the crew begins with the engine output increase which is not visible at first glance. This results in the fact that substantial 375 HP instead of standard 333 HP are now waiting for calling. The maximum torque shows 525 Nm in comparison to initial 440 Nm, which is now blasting the crankshaft without mercy. Increasing the limit of Vmax to the new value of 290 km/h is just a logical way at such performance.

Tested version for Germany:

Wheel disks at the front axle in 9x21 inch with 255/30ZR21 tyres and in 10,5x21 inch with 295/25ZR21 tyres at the rear axle are produced by Cargraphic also. Use of Bilstein thread suspension B16 PSS10 ensures perfect match of the wheel/tyre combination to the wheel housings. On demand – and at this performance absolutely advisable – a brake system from Brembo with double 380x32 mm brake disks and 6-piston monoblock saddle for the front axle can be installed. In conclusion, various carbon parts for the external cover and also for the interior should be mentioned.

RENM Performance also announced that a supercharger kit for the 4.2 V8 is also available that can produce 523 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.

Renm Performance recently released a new styling and performance upgrade package for the Audi R8 Enigma. Featuring the Audi R8 V10, Renm Performance received the 2010 World Performance Car Award and released their upgrade package the same year. To get into the exterior visual upgrades, Renm’s performance fitted tuning their Audi R8 Enigma with various carbon fiber elements along with seamless integration. Also included in their upgrade package is a set of lightweight carbon fiber forged wheels, and a carbon front lip with optional rear diffuser.

RENM Performance, a car tuning company in Melbourne Australia, have created custom kits for the Audi R8 V8 and V10 models. The Audi R8 equipped with the 4.2 V8 engine got an increase of 39 horses and 26 lb-ft of torque over the stock model (the boosted model produces 454 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque). It also features an ECU recalibration, a carbon fibre air-intake and a performance exhaust.

The 5.2 V10 version develops 565 PS (415 KW) 560 NM with a simple ECU re-calibration alone. By adding high-flow sports air filters and performance exhaust system, peak-power for the 5.2 V10 increases to 600 PS (441 KW) 585 NM.

High-performance exhaust valves are operated via remote control, allowing the user to select between cruise, sport or open modes. The tuning program includes 20-inch light weight carbon fibre/forged wheels, carbon fibre/alacantra steering wheel and carbon fibre interior upgrades. A carbon fibre front lip and rear diffuser are optional extras.

A supercharger kit for the 4.2 V8 is available, and when combined with other engine upgrades, increases total output to an impressive 530 PS (390KW) 600NM. Uprated brakes, including 8-pot front and 6-pot rear calipers are fitted to accomodate the additional power. Other options include race suspension kits or race hydraulic lift systems.

2011 Sportster SuperLow $7,999
If you ask us, it's not really a new model but a hyper-tweaked take on the standard Sporty. We spent the majority of our saddle time (split across three bikes) on it, and the SuperLow turned out to be the most refined Sportster we've ridden in years. It felt much more substantial and planted than we had any right to expect - considering Harley insisted on labeling it as an entry-level machine, targeted at younger, new and returning riders.

Maestro

Bowen really has outdone himself this time – and I don’t even have my PH yet!  But my favorite thing about statues are the little things that tell a story – for instance, the Marvel Milestones Hulk statue has a base that shows off a huge robotic hand – that to me is just bad-ass – I don’t know about you, but my mind begins to swim with scenarios that showcase the Hulk destroying the enormous robot.  This is one of those statues – and mainly because of the base!
I will get into the statue itself in a minute, but let’s get this out of the way, shall we?  Here is a list of the many relics found on Maestro’s base:
  • Captain America’s Shield (one of the best
  • Spiderman’s Mask
  • Daredevil’s Skull
  • Iron Man’s Helmet
  • Strange’s Eye of Agamotto
  • Wolverine’s Skull
  • Doom’s Mask
  • Thor’s Hammer
  • Black Night’s Ebony Blade
  • Either Ant Man or Wasp’s Skull
  • Gun from the Punisher
  • Hercule’s Mace
  • Deathlock’s Pistol
  • Sabertooth’s Tooth – although, also rumored to be a Jawbone from Predator 2 (from Randy himself)
  • The Ultimate Nullifier
  • Deadpool’s Sword
  • Bullseye’s Dagger
  • Zombie’s Hand
  • Pyro’s Fuel Tank.

!

This statue is out of control!  Rahas also said that noteverything has significance – so don’t go crazy if you can’t figure it out!  But I think a perfect mini-series would be how the Hulk finally went nuts and killed all these heroes and became the Maestro – how come this story has not been done yet?  I’m sure PD has it in the back of his mind somewhere… they could highlight how Rick and Bruce became enemies and I would love to see how the Hulk took down some of the heroes!
