One of the highlights in the fourth episode of Top Gear’s 17th season that aired in Britain this past weekend was the test of the 530HP and 612 Nm (451 lb/ft) 2012 Nissan GT-R. Jeremy Clarkson clearly had a blast driving the updated version of Nissan’s twin-turbocharged, four-wheel drive supercar and, unusually for him, almost ran out of expletives.
First, he pitted the Nissan against the more powerful Jaguar XKR-S in a straight-line race. Not surprisingly, the Nissan completely thrashed its British opponent. Next, the keys of the 2012 GT-R were handed over to the team’s dedicated test driver with no face, commonly known as The Stig.
We won’t spoil the ending, but let’s just say that the man in the white outfit recorded an excellent time on the TG’s famous power lap.
